Dear Friends and Supporters…
“O Israel, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!” (Isaiah 43:2)
With these words, the prophet quieted the fears of the people in times of great stress. These are certainly times of stress and tension, particularly in the Middle East. We are grateful to our God that in the midst of the storm, the One who knows us by name is always with us.
What a rewarding experience it was to perform the “Messiah” of Handel in Hebrew last month! We were able to expand to three performances. The houses were full in each venue, including in Beer-Sheva, as we brought this wonderful work for the first time to the South. As in Or Akiva, we were able to subsidise Holocaust Survivors and others for the Beer-Sheva performance.
This year saw 350 such guests! We are grateful to see such yearly increase in this endeavour! Many thanks to those whose generosity and prayers paved the way for the entrance of the Word of God to our people. May the Lord reward you richly for your faithfulness!
I am excited at the prospects for the future, since it seems that we are going to be given more opportunities for our work. I am planning two programs; one to be performed with piano only, to be offered at many smaller venues in Israel. The second is the December concert called “Sha’arei Nechama” or Gates of Comfort. We will perform my Cantata on Psalm 87 In Hebrew, the “German Requiem” of Brahms in Hebrew and an excerpt from a new oratorio by Efrat Gerlich (Khaze Haveit”) from the Prophet Daniel. Together, these three works express a complete biblical perspective on comfort in hard times and the victory that the Messiah will win for us! We will perform this program with one of the most exciting chamber orchestras in Israel, the The Tel Aviv Soloists’ Ensemble. We will present it at a theatre in the heart of Tel Aviv. This will be a first for us. Please consider partnering with us for that evening. We need provision for this financial challenge.
